This is what my weekend looked like. I even took some time off to watch a terrible movie also known as Green Lantern with my husband. We're both big buffs of super hero movies but that one will probably never join the ranks of our superhero collection. Not even the fact that Ryan Reynolds was in it could save the story line. Since when did super heroes admit to their nemesis that they were scared? It was just all so bad and quite a few times, I just wanted to turn it off and write again.

I'm planning on taking some time off this week to read and relax. At least two days off, like a normal job. I've just been going non stop on this editing project that I keep forgetting to take time out for myself. Another reason is because I'm out of correction tape. I can't stand crossing out my mistakes and writing over them. It just looks messy. I am currently itching to take a whole roll of correction tape over my last two edits. Its driving me mad. The only other thing that drives me this crazy is no internet...that's saying a lot since no internet means a nuclear meltdown. Must. Stay. Calm. Send correction tape soon!!

If you smile, that should set the tone

I've been pretty busy lately with the editing process. Its really gratifying when I finish a new part and the word count gets higher. I thought that editing this book would take at least a year because it would be such a hot mess. Its actually quite the opposite. I'm so invested in my characters that I enjoy the time I spend rearranging their lives. I think they're happier with the maturity they've all gained as well through this massive editing session. I'm not the only one who has grown during this time.

One of my friends told me that characters are technically real because they are ever changing. A story can always be added to. I agree with that, 100%. My characters feel like my children sometimes. I just want them all to lead good lives. Even the antagonists who seem to destroy everything. What's good for one character is completely different from the next one.

Before I leave, I have a quote which my bestie told me to post so I can always remember it:

"I'm finding that publishing my first book is kind of like having sex for the first time. I want it to be with someone good who isn't going to walk away with something precious the next day, leaving me in the lurch."

Starships were meant to fly...

I'm editing at such a rapid speed that I don't have enough hours in the day to write it all out. This is another one of those moments in my life where a house elf would come in handy. I have since edited more and probably have another five pages to write out. I know I don't HAVE to write it down, but I like the paper reference in case I can't use my computer for whatever reason. It just makes me feel better to have a hard copy somewhere close. Also, my sister brought me home 7 packages of 200 sheet loose leaf paper when her work didn't need them anymore. I had to put them to use in some way...

Its been said and done, every word has already been sung...

Here we go, round two...or chapter two, anyway. I know in the long run, this will probably be chapter 6, but let's not get into that right now. So much to do, so little time. The summer may seem to be stretched in front of us right now but it'll fly by like nothing. Must get back to work.

I think its special, what's behind your back

I've been working pretty hard on my writing lately. I'm really driven to get my novel finished by September. This is a summer of sacrifice, but its worth it. Every word of it. I want to be a published author by 2013. Even if it is just digitally. I want to get my writing out into the world. I have started to work on my book everyday. If I'm not in the mood to write at first, I do writing prompts until I'm ready to write...as you can tell, I haven't need any in exactly a week. *knocks on wood* I hate the Writer's Block but the Writer's prompts are fun to do.

If my book does well, I'll have the money to go to Paris next year without really trying - well, I guess if you add in all the writing and editing, I tried a Hell of a lot. I'm so excited but at the same time, nervous. This is my first publication, I don't want it to get in the wrong hands.

The picture above is all of Chapter One after edit 1. I'm going to have to make it into five chapters because I added way too much to each part. Oh, well. I expected there to be more than 15 chapters. At this rate, there will be 75? Is that right? Eep! I'm going to have to do some serious editing. Blerg. Writing really isn't as easy as it looks. Trust me. There is as much labor in it than anything else you work hard at. I wouldn't give this up for anything in the world.

Chapter One Word Count:

Rough Copy: 6,606 words
1st Edit: 18,279 words

In other words, I added 11,673 words to it in a matter of four days...how come I can't do this when NaNoWriMo is on??
